Each hunter must provide his or her own gun or bow, ammunition, license(s), sleeping bag, warm clothing, and personal effects. Hunters are responsible for processing of game. Hunters should plan to be in Grand Junction, Montrose, or designated location on the morning a day before the hunt starts. The weather conditions may vary from one extreme to the other in the Colorado Mountains. Temperatures frequently change from short-sleeve weather to below freezing overnight. Hunters should come prepared for varying weather conditions and bring appropriate gear for expected climate during the hunt. We suggest always including wet weather gear. A bedroll for medium to cold conditions is recommended.
Archery Elk, 2nd and 3rd. Rifle Elk season are available over-the-counter or on the web. Licenses should be purchased before opening day of the season.
A Hunter Safety Card is required for persons born after January 1, 1949.
Licenses for Muzzleloader, 1st. and 4th. Rifle Season Elk, all Deer, and Cow Elk are by draw. Applications can be obtained from the Colorado Division of Wildlife, 6060 Broadway, Denver, Colorado 80216. or on the web (www.wildlife.state.co.us). The CDOW phone number is (303) 287-1192. Application for the draw are typically due within the first week of April each year. B&W Guide Service encourages our hunters to participate in a fitness program at their favorite gym, health club, or recreation facility. We want you to get the most out of your hunt and some physical conditioning such as walking or bicycling will pay off. Elevation may range from 8900 ft. to over 11,500 ft depending on the hunt and location of animals. |
